March to July 2015 :o)

Hi again :o)  I'm doing my best to get things up to date on here as I've been quite lax about posting our photos on here, so these are some photos from between March and July this year.  We only managed the odd weekend away in Kitty so stayed pretty close to home, other than one weekend visiting Phil's sister at Melton Mowbray and the May Bank holidays when we visited Rutland on the first one and then got down to Norwich for the late one (also Phil's Birthday).

The Red Lion in Thetford (where much of Dad's Army was filmed)

This one is truly an amazing building so I've included a couple of photos of the inside - just look at that ceiling!! It is the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds.

Then we got to Norwich itself - an amazing city, I have intended coming here many times but never made it until now.  So glad we got there in the end! We visited the Colman's Mustard museum (although to be honest it was more of a shop with a couple of displays in it) the shopping arcade it was in was lovely, very art noveau in its' decor.  We discovered a little street that looked like we had stepped back in time, I'll add a couple of photos below, although they don't do it justice!  There is also a lovely walk down by the river - and luckily for me very flat with plenty of rest-stops. The two Wetherspoons above are The Bell Hotel, and the Glasshouse; the two shown further below are the Queen of Iceni and The Whiffler.

Bringing things up to date :o)

Only just realised I hadn't updated this since early December, so there are a few more Wetherspoon's to be added to the list.  We've been trying to give Kitty a run out every other Sunday to keep her in good order so we've teamed this with popping into a Wetherspoon's along the way for a quick cuppa :o)

From December 2014 - March 2015:

These two photos are of us outside The City and County in Goole - we really liked the angle of the first but couldn't get the name in so had to take the second one too!

The Giant Bellflower, Selby.  This one was full of botanical prints and other vintage imagery - really pretty :o)

Then three in Doncaster, The Red Lion, The Old Angel and The Gate House.  Apologies for the poor photo of The Red Lion, it was really hard to get the right angle.

The White Horse, Brigg

The Punchbowl and The Posterngate, both in York.

The Crown Inn, Knaresborough - where we spotted this amazing Green Man, by Tommy Craggs Treesculpting.  Had a truly lovely day in Knaresborough, a beautiful town that I probably would have bypassed had it not been for our little challenge!

We did manage to get a whole week away at the end of March, and we travelled to the Lakes and then over towards Middlesborough (as I had another craft workshop!) and these are the one's we managed to clock up during the week.

These two were in the Lakes, Cumbria - The Miles Thompson, Kendal and the Henry Bessemer in Workington.

We really enjoyed the Lake District, the scenery was amazing and we visited Dove Cottage (Wordsworth) and Castlerigg stone circle.  Then on to North Yorkshire via the Dales.

The Ralph Fitz Randall, Richmond - a morning stop for a lovely hot drink following waking up to a blanket of snow - at the end of March!!

The Stanley Jefferson, Bishop Auckland

(in respect of Stan Laurel who grew up there)

Another lovely town that we probably would not have visited.

The Plimsoll Line, Redcar - we found an amazing chip shop here - Oliver's - so tasty!!

This is what I created on the workshop, guided by the wonderful Andy Skinner.  With the travel theme on it, it is now the new mirror in Kitty :o)
