Derbyshire & Norfolk stops

A few more little ventures out in Kitty over the last month, testing the water so to speak and to make sure we don't regret buying her at this end of the year - it was such a big decision and a major major outlay, that to just have her sitting on the driveway would be a waste.

Well we've both always loved Derbyshire, Phil spent a lot of time cycling around the area as a boy, and I just love the Peaks - no, no cycling for me!!

The Liquorice Gardens, Worksop
(I know - Notts but en route to Derbyshire!)

Spa Lane Vaults, Chesterfield

The Portland Hotel, Chesterfield

The Wye Bridge House, Buxton
(sorry for awful picture - it was raining!!)

The Ivy Wall, Spalding
(en route to Norfolk!)

The Globe Hotel, King's Lynn

Absolutely stunning!! The Lattice House, King's Lynn

The Limes, Fakenham

The Romany Rye, Dereham
(Breakfast!!)

Now please don't think that we miss the local sites whilst searching out the Wetherspoons - indeed quite the opposite.   For instance King's Lynn, I've been on it's bypass many times but never felt drawn to venturing in. What a surprise to find it so pretty and with some really interesting history - a plaque in the Tuesday market place (yes there's a reason for it's name) told of witches trials - which I had more associated with East Norfolk & Matthew Hopkins - and also of King Henry VIIIs links to the town.

Dereham was lovely too - a church with a completely separate bell tower, tales of a PoW being shot there, and a lovely old building - dating from the 1500s being re-thatched as we watched. We would possibly not had seen this without our Wetherspoons challenge.

Truth be told we don't really expect to ever visit them all but the quest will lead us many a lovely journey I'm sure!!

Cheers for now,
Stefanie & Phil :o)

(Wetherspoon's count 13 + 9 = 22)
